Highlights from key engagements
1. EARPA autumn meeting presentation
In a recent milestone, ProtAct-Us was presented at the EARPA (European Automotive Research Partners Association) Foresight Group on Connectivity, Automation, and Safety meeting. Hosted by Virtual Vehicle Research GmbH, the presentation introduced the ProtAct-Us initiative to Europe’s leading automotive research community, alongside the IMPROVA project. The collaboration between ProtAct-Us and IMPROVA opens promising pathways for future research and shared insights on advancing automotive safety and innovation in road safety technology. The event fostered productive discussions, revealing shared enthusiasm for smarter, safer mobility across Europe.
2. Knowledge Base Forum at IRCOBI
Building on the momentum, the ProtAct-Us team joined the Knowledge Base Forum at the IRCOBI (International Research Council on the Biomechanics of Injury) Conference, which provides a renowned platform for discussing injury biomechanics. Here, ProtAct-Us engaged with experts on severe traffic-related injuries and their long-term effects, underscoring the importance of evidence-based approaches to reduce injury risks. The forum was a valuable opportunity to connect with the IMPROVA project, reinforcing both projects’ missions to drive forward collaborations that enhance public health and safety.
3. Participation in the IRCOBI conference
The IRCOBI Conference, held in Stockholm, Sweden, brought together a global network of leading researchers in biomechanics and injury prevention, critical areas for ProtAct-Us. Werner Leitgeb, ProtAct-Us coordinator, joined the conference alongside representatives from Virtual Vehicle Research GmbH, Medizinische Hochschule Hannover, Lazer Sport NV, and the University of Strasbourg. The conference allowed ProtAct-Us to engage with top specialists in injury biomechanics, a core research focus of the project. These interactions have provided valuable insights into the latest advancements and research methodologies aimed at understanding the human body’s response to physical forces, particularly within the context of road safety.
Driving the ProtAct-Us mission forward
The collaborative activities over these past six months have allowed the ProtAct-Us team to connect with international experts, engage in meaningful discussions, and set a solid foundation for the next phase of research. With a clear mission to prevent and reduce the impact of road traffic injuries, ProtAct-Us is steadily advancing towards its goals, leveraging these early insights and partnerships to guide its upcoming research and developments.
As we look ahead, the ProtAct-Us team remains committed to creating a safer, smarter future for all road users. We’re grateful for the support and collaboration of our partners and are eager to continue sharing our progress with the community. Stay tuned for further updates as ProtAct-Us works to shape the future of road safety and injury prevention.
