ProtAct-Us Contributes to Key Discussions at RTR Conference 2026
ProtAct-Us participated in the RTR Conference 2026, held in Brussels from 10–12 February, one of Europe’s leading events dedicated to road transport research and innovation.
ProtAct-Us took part in the session “Reducing severe injuries and long-term consequences of road crashes”, alongside its sister project IMPROVA Road Safety. The session offered an opportunity to showcase the strong synergies between the two initiatives. While both projects share similar goals, they adopt different and complementary approaches, reinforcing their collective impact on road safety research.
During the conference, the project presented an overview of its objectives and ongoing activities, highlighting its integration within the wider research cluster and the work currently being developed on road safety data. The presentation provided insights into how ProtAct-Us is contributing to a better understanding of long-term consequences resulting from road crashes.
The discussion addressed several key topics, including the psychological impact of road crashes, gender and individual differences in long-term consequences (LTC), and the importance of increasing awareness of these issues within both the road safety and public health communities.
The session was moderated by Inés Elvira (CINEA – European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency) and Margriet van Schijndel-de Nooij (Eindhoven University of Technology).
Participation in RTR Conference 2026 reinforced ProtAct-Us’ commitment to collaboration, knowledge exchange, and advancing research aimed at reducing the long-term impacts of road traffic crashes across Europe.
