Main Goals and Challenges

Medical data correlation,

standardization and classification of long-term physical, cognitive and mental health consequences of road crashes

Robust and reliable medical, epidemiological and engineering tools

like upgraded HBMs, and physical as well as virtual assessment methods for upper and lower extremities, head-neck-and-face, allowing for effective countermeasure development for all road users

Reduction of long-term consequences

and related socio-economic cost of road crash related injuries for all road users

Road User Groups

Occupants Passengers Cars
Pedestrians
Occupants Public Transportation
Motorcycles, Bicycles & New
Micro-Mobility riders

Impacts

ProcAct-Us innovative strategies not only shape project outcomes but ensure a lasting impact that will persist long after the ending of the project.

Socials

Use research to support evidence-based policies that lead to changes in safety rules and regulations.

Reduce recovery time and make it easier for injured road users to return to work.

Improve road safety across the EU by enhancing the efficiency of equipment and models.

Scientific

Conduct medical and epidemiological research to understand the physical, psychological, and mental impacts of injuries over time.

Develop new post-crash response strategies and guidelines to reduce treatment costs.

Expand and share knowledge about the long-term consequences of serious injuries, their causes, and individual risk factors.

Economic

Create strategies for faster and more effective medical response, lowering expenses linked to complications.

Improve efficiency in testing and validating safety solutions, ensuring smarter investments.

Develop guidelines to reduce costs at different stages of injury treatment.

WPs

Leader | UNISTRA
The main objectives of this WP are:
  • To analyze available accident data to identify priorities related to severe injuries and long-term consequences for all road user groups.
  • To define of Baseline Use Cases for road user groups;
  • To develop a methodology for injury mitigation and benefit assessment.
Leader | MHH
The main objectives of this WP are:
  • To develop a harmonized multi-center data collection framework to assess the long-term physical, mental, and socioeconomic consequences of road traffic accidents, based on prospective data collection and validated indicators.
  • To create injury metrics to evaluate and predict the risk of long-term physical, mental, and socioeconomic consequences of road traffic accidents.
  • To propose guidelines for risk assessment and a decision support system (DSS) for road traffic injuries.
  • To develop a method for evaluating safety measures, considering injury metrics, the risk of long-term physical and cognitive impairment, and the socioeconomic impact of accidents.
Leader | VIF
The main objectives of this WP are:
  • To develop engineering tools and methods to better understand serious injuries with long-term consequences by improving human body models (HBMs) and physical testing devices.
  • To conduct the necessary tests to ensure these tools and methods are reliable and effective.
  • To create virtual and physical testing procedures that help assess safety measures for all road users.
Leader | RWTH
The main objectives of this WP are:
  • To analyze and reconstruct the Use Cases defined in WP1, focusing on critical scenarios related to long-term injuries.
  • To apply the tools developed in WP3 to assess long-term injuries.
  • To develop measures to reduce the impact of long-term injuries.
  • To evaluate the physical and psychological effectiveness of these measures.
  • To assess the long-term physical, psychological, and economic impact of these measures.
Leader | INOVA+
The main objectives of this WP are:
  • To develop a strong communication and dissemination strategy, creating a clear project identity, effective communication tools, and promoting open science best practices.
  • To foster cooperation and interaction with key initiatives at the EU, national, and regional levels.
  • To define and implement a Business and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) plan to ensure the proper use and commercialization of project results, including IPR management and standardization.
  • To create a standardized framework for assessing personal injuries with long-term consequences, considering different types of road users and injury profiles.
Leader | VIF
The main objectives of this WP are:
  • To ensure that project goals are achieved on time, within budget, and at the expected quality standards.
  • To establish and manage the administrative framework in full compliance with Horizon Europe requirements.
  • To promote effective coordination and collaboration among consortium members, including Associated Partners.
  • To manage the assessment of project objectives including related internal and external progress reporting:
    • Continuous project and consortium management,
    • Risk, change, and quality management.
