Introduction of the organization
Virtual Vehicle Research GmbH is Europe’s largest R&D center for virtual vehicle technology, with more than 300 employees. Its research priority is linking numerical simulations and hardware testing, which leads to a powerful HW-SW whole system design and automation of testing and validation procedures. Following this focus on industry-related research, VIRTUAL VEHICLE is the innovation catalyst for future vehicle technologies. 

The international partner network consists of around 100 national and international industrial partners (OEMs, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, and software providers), including over 40 national and international scientific institutions. Virtual Vehicle is the largest COMET-funded research center and is active in 40+ EU projects. 

Virtual Vehicle has more than 20 years of experience developing Vehicle and Road Safety tools and methods in numerous national and international projects. It is also a member of Euro NCAP. 

Role in the project
Virtual Vehicle is the coordinator of the ProtAct-Us project and is in charge of the project management. 
Task leader for the Development of the ProtAct-Us concept for injury mitigation assessment and benefit. 

Workpackage leader for the Engineering tools and methods workpackage, where the aim is to develop engineering tools and methods to assess serious injuries with long-term consequences by implementation and upgrade of HBMs and physical testing devices for all road user groups. 

Further, virtual and physical testing procedures for tool and method validation are tried and tested for application and demonstration of countermeasures development. Virtual Vehicle is also involved in Dissemination, Exploitation, and Standardization activities in ProtAct-Us.
