P10. UNIPV

Introduction of the organization
The University of Pavia (UNIPV), one of Italy’s oldest institutions, offers a range of programs across disciplines such as humanities, sciences, engineering, medicine, and law. Renowned for its robust research output, UNIPV fosters innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration while promoting international exchange programs that welcome students and researchers from around the world. The university emphasizes practical learning and real-world applications through partnerships with industry and government, creating a dynamic academic environment.

The Department of Public Health is committed to promoting health and preventing disease through rigorous research, education, and public health initiatives. Its activities include conducting epidemiological studies, advancing health development, and analysing various factors influencing the population’s health. The department closely collaborates with healthcare institutions, government agencies, and international organizations to address pressing public health challenges. It is actively involved in research focused on road safety and the long-term health consequences of road traffic accidents. It develops predictive models for assessing injury risks and evaluates the effectiveness of safety measures, leveraging real-world data to enhance research and inform public health strategies.

Role in the project
ProtAct-Us aims to reduce the long-term consequences of road crashes by influencing policies, regulations, and standards for more inclusive road safety improvements. UNIPV plays a key role in analysing and reviewing injury data related to severe injuries and their long-term effects. Specifically, UNIPV will analyse the REHABIL-AID dataset, focusing on patients’ physical and mental health to identify those with the highest risk of long-term cognitive and physical impairments based on the severity and location of their injuries.

Additionally, UNIPV will conduct epidemiological and statistical analyses using multivariate methods to assess injury severity and outcomes. UNIPV will also contribute to developing tools to evaluate safety measures, estimating the potential reduction in severe injuries and long-term impacts by analyzing accident data and injury metrics.
