P2. RWTH
Introduction of the organization
As part of RWTH Aachen University, the Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika) researches the entire vehicle, including its systems and their interactions. From the initial idea through innovative components and system concepts to vehicle prototypes, the institute’s employees are shaping the vehicle of the future. ika makes a recognized contribution to solving current challenges in public projects and cooperation with OEMs and suppliers.
Role in the project
In ProtAct-Us, ika leads the work package “Integration: Countermeasures and Effectiveness” and is responsible for the road user group “Occupants of Passenger Cars”. Together with the involved partners, ika will identify critical scenarios based on use cases from the work package „Assessment Concept and Use Cases Definition“ and develop countermeasures for long-term consequences. These countermeasures will be assessed regarding their physical and psychological effectiveness as well as their impact. Within this work package, ika leads the tasks “Use Case Reconstruction” and “Countermeasures Development”. On top of that, ika is responsible for the task “Road User Baseline Use Cases” in the work package “Assessment Concept and Use Cases Definition“. The baseline use cases will be preliminarily set up using CAE modelling techniques. They will be investigated with state-of-the-art engineering assessment tools to identify development needs for the work package “Development: Engineering Tools and Methods”.
